A British Columbia lawyer representing 12 victims from last year's charter bus crash on Interstate 84 near Pendleton has filed a lawsuit in Umatilla County seeking 700 million dollars.

The group is seeking a jury trial on accusations that Mi Joo Tour and Travel was negligent.

The lawsuit, which was filed Monday, also accuses Oregon's transportation department for failing to make an icy stretch of the interstate safe and failing to erect barriers to keep vehicles from going over a cliff.

Nine people were killed and 38 were injured when the charter bus crashed on December 30th.
