Local Doctor Starts Hope For Humanity, A Medical Relief Progam for Ethiopia

Local anesthesiologist Dr. David Dickerman has started Hope For Humanity, a medical relief program to aid people in Ethiopia. Dr. Dickerman, another physician, and three local nurses will head there next week.

The team will work in a local hospital for a week helping fix boken bones and other injries that have healed improperly due ot a lack of available medical care.

Dr. Dickerman says he was inspired to start this progam after a meeting a young girl who wants to be a doctor during his first trip to Ethiopia in 2010.

He hopes the Tri Cities community will rally around his program.

"I want the people of Tri Cities to know this is a home town venture and it started here with local people and I want the Tri Cities to be proud of what we're doing," siad Dickerman.

Dr. Dickerman will also visit the children's village, a boarding school for orphans, where he first meet Hiwot, the ten year old that served as his inspiration

Dr. Dickerman and his team will be sharing his stories and pictures with us during his travels and we will pass them along to you.
