Three Richland students going to Washington, D.C. for national competition
A group of Richland students are heading to Washington, D.C. in a couple weeks to compete in a national engineering competition.
The three students from Carmichael Middle School earned first place at the Washington state Future City Contest in Seattle last month.
For the competition, the students built a model city that solves storm water runoff problems.
The students wrote an essay explaining their city, and presented their model to a panel of judges.
The students say they have been working on the project since last summer.
