More single shelled tanks leaking at Hanford

Governor Jay Inslee delivers disturbing news regarding the situation at Hanford as he learned today five additional single shelled tanks are leaking.

While visiting Washington, D.C. today, Inslee met with Energy Secretary Steven Chu who confirmed data collected at the Hanford site has not been properly evaluated and that the amount of leakage varies between the tanks.

Chu told the governor that the Department of Energy will aggressively initiate additional monitoring of the tanks.  However, options on what to do with the hazardous waste or the tanks is still being evaluated.

Inslee says despite the disturbing news, the leaking tanks do not pose a public health risk.
