Energy Northwest Emergency Drill
Employees at Energy Northwest spent the better part of today preparing for an emergency at our region's only nuclear power plant.
Workers held the first emergency drill this morning.
In the scenario, an earthquake had occurred on the hanford site, and the reactor was shut down.
A couple of hours later, crews declared a general emergency at the site.
Energy Northwest conducts four emergency drills each year.
Employees say these scenarios help prepare them for a real emergency.
