Fred Meyer Recalls Wheat Bread Due to Plastic

Fred Meyer has recalled five types of private label wheat bread after discovering pieces of plastic in loaves delivered to stores in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

They all featured a March 8 sell-by date.

The products are:

QFC TENDER TWIST WHEAT BREAD, 20 OZ

KROGER VALUE WHEAT BREAD, 22.5 OZ

FRED MEYER TENDER TWIST 100% WHOLE WHEAT BREAD, 24 OZ

FRED MEYER TENDER TWIST HONEY CRACKED WHEAT BREAD, 24 OZ

FRED MEYER TENDER TWIST WHEAT BREAD, 22.5 OZ

A spokeswoman for Fred Meyer says the plastic was discovered in the retailer's Clackamas, Ore., bakery.  So far no customers have reported finding any plastic in purchased loaves.

Fred Meyer has pulled the loaves from store shelves and is investigating.

Customers who are members of Fred Meyer loyalty programs will receive calls to warn them about the recall.  Customers can bring the loaves to stores for a refund or exchange.
