The Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau is throwing it's support behind closing Vista Field and redeveloping the land.

CEO Kris Watkins says after careful consideration, the Bureau and it's Board of Directors decided redevelopment is in the best interest of the community.  A study by an outside consultant determined expanding Vista Field would cost taxpayers 43.5 million dollars, whereas redevelopment would come at no cost to taxpayers.

Redevelopment would likely include hotels, retail businesses and restaurants and more.

Watkins say it will also provide the Three Rivers Convention Center room for future growth.
