A Washington State University student from Kennewick is spending her holiday break throwing footballs, hoping to score a $100,000 scholarship from Dr. Pepper.

18-year old Megan Hardy graduated from Southridge High School last year and is a freshman at WSU in Pullman.  Last fall, Hardy submitted a video to a Dr. Pepper contest to win a the scholarship.  As one of the top five vote getters , she and four other finalists are flying to Florida this week to throw footballs for the prize.  Whichever student hits the most targets in 30 seconds wins the scholarship.

Megan says the money would allow her to graduate debt free and pursue her dream of teaching children who've had a rough start in life.

The contest is expected to air Monday during the the BCS National Championship game.
