Wapato Youth Athletics League Returns To Community Center

A non-profit youth sports program in Wapato will be reopening its doors to the community.

The Wapato City Council met with the Wapato Youth Athletics League Monday night, and voted to allow it to use the city's community center once again.

The league vacated the community center back in November, after insurance rates went up.

League officials say using the community center will allow them to continue making a positive impact on the lives of young people.

"Kids are our future. And we give kids positive things to do, and the kids go on and do positive things," said WYAL Director Mike Kennedy, "With the city joining hands with us, it's all good, it's all a positive thing."

The league plans on starting classes as early as tomorrow.
