A bed and breakfast in Touchet receives national recognition, after its named one of the top places to stay in the country.

The owners of the Cameo Heights Mansion say they were shocked by their new title.

They said they were looking up the rankings to see if another place in Walla Walla had made the list, when they saw the name of their bed and breakfast come up.

They say they've been listed as the top bed and breakfast in Touchet for the past five years, but this type of recognition is a little different.

Over a worn down road and next to some orchards and vineyards lies a place people from all over the world have come to to relax.

"A perfect stay for every guest, every time, that's our aspiration" said Deanne & Alan Fielding, owners.

Deanne and Alan Fielding opened the Cameo Heights Mansion six years ago in the small town of Touchet.

The bed and breakfast has had guests from Hermiston to Holland.

And now, its receiving national recognition.

"I'm pumped. I'm excited" said Alan.

"He is, Mr. Competitive over here" said Deanne.

The website,, just released its lists of the best hotels of 2013.

And Cameo Heights made the cut.

It was named one of the top 25 bed and breakfasts in the entire country.

"It's pretty exciting. He started hollering. I'd already gone in and gotten ready for bed, and I thought, oh my goodness what's going on? I came out, and he was like, 'were #21 in the nation!'" said Deanne.

The rankings were based on guest ratings.

Out of the 201 ratings on for Cameo Heights, 192 people gave excellent ratings.

Nobody gave a terrible rating.

"We enjoy the people. We enjoy the hospitality industry" said Deanne.

The 11,000 square foot mansion has seven bedrooms, each with a fireplace, and a tub with air-jets.

There's also a mini movie theater downstairs and a swimming pool outside.

And if you forget soap, don't worry, staff members make their own soap by hand and put it in each room.

The Fieldings admit they don't have everything, but they certainly have the recipe for a relaxing retreat down pretty good.

"We don't have the big expensive lobby like the big hotels. But who needs a big expensive lobby on a romantic getaway? Do you really need one?" said Alan.

More than one-third of the guests who stay at Cameo Heights are from the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas.

The majority of the rest of the guests are from across the northwest.

The Fieldings say the secret to their success is they're always looking for ways to improve their guests' stays.

They give out an evaluation to each guest at the end of their visit to see what they can do better.
