A Lifetime of Giving Blood
A Yakima woman is honored after a lifetime of donating blood.
94 year old Mary Stensrud was given the "Unsung Hero" award by the Yakima Downtown Rotary yesterday.
Stensrud has been donating blood to the red cross for 67 years, totalling over 32 gallons of blood.
Stensrud says she donates a pint of blood every 56 days, and is encouraging others to do the same.
"I would like to see other elderly people in good health go down to the red cross and see if they are eligible physically to give blood," said Stensrud, "And if so, maybe get on the bandwagon and start to donate regularly."
