Fugitive arrested following SWAT standoff in Richland
A fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshall's Service and the Richland Police Department is behind bars following a SWAT standoff yesterday afternoon in Richland.
23-year-old Ricco Garza of Richland had been tracked by authorities from Florida to Portland, OR and then to the Tri-Cities. Garza was wanted on Federal firearms violations and has an outstanding warrant from Richland Police Department for failing to register as a sex offender.
The SWAT team was called in after Garza refused to exit the residence and had with him his 14 year of age male cousin. Garza was armed with a handgun and has a history of violence and gang affiliations.
After about an hour of negotiations, Garza and his cousin came out of the residence. Garza was taken to the Benton County Jail and booked on federal and local charges.
