Tri-Cities Economic Forum

It's good news for the economy of the Tri-Cities region.

From health care and housing to manufacturing and agro-business, 300 of the area's top economic leaders gathered at The Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, where many business experts say the forecast is not all bad for the Tri-Cities economy.

This week alone the Labor Department reported unemployment rates dropping, while the housing market is also showing some growth.

President of Tri-Cities Washington Development Council Carl Adrian said the business enviroment is challenging, but we're faring pretty well, compared to parts of the country.

"Companies are reluctant to make major investment decisions and some of that has rubbed off in this community, but I don't think we've felt the effect like other places have," said Adrian.

He also said the uncertainty at the federal level and how that will impact Hanford's budget is what's causing the stress in the market.
