Poetry, Out Loud!
17 high school students from around the region compete in a poetry recital contest today.
It's part of the 6th annual Poetry Out Loud competition, in which students recite works from known poets.
Students are scored by a panel of judges based on categories such as the difficulty of the poem, accuracy, and dramatization.
Two students will be selected from today's competition and sent to Olympia, WA for a chance to earn a spot in the national competition on D.C.
So far, 7 students from Yakima have gone to nationals.
