Hermiston School District prepares to renovate Kennison Field

After months of fundraising, the Hermiston School District is preparing to break ground on a renovation project for Kennison Field.
The field was shut down last May due to safety concerns.
Since then, the district has come up with $4 million to fund the project.
$700,000 of that came from donations from businesses and individuals.
This week, the school board gave a Portland contractor the green light to start working.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place February 8th at 4 PM.
