New KGH medical residents report for work, excited to serve community

Kennewick General Hospital today welcomes its first medical residents. Drs. Minh‐Triet Dinh Vo, Maria Persianinova, and Shahla Walizada arrived to begin rounding on hospital patients with their supervising physicians. Dr. Mahmoud Al‐Hawamdeh, KGH hospitalist, will work with Dr. Persianinova during her internal medicine residency; Dr. Sheila Dunlop will oversee Drs. Vo and Walizada as they complete family
medicine residencies.

The three‐year post‐graduate residency programs in family and internal medicine are approved by the American Osteopathic Association, the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical schools and primary
certifying body for osteopathic physicians.

Designed to provide recent medical school graduates with hands‐on inpatient and outpatient experience as well as relevant continuing instruction, the new programs, a Tri‐Cities first, will include hospital and clinic rotations in addition to one‐on‐one training by local preceptors with Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Doctor of Medicine degrees.
