Kennewick Man Arrested After Attempting to Flee Police

From the Kennewick Police Department-

Summary of Incident:
On July 9, 2013 at 9:30PM, officers were in the area of East 5th Avenue when they viewed Justin T Clifton walking in the area.  Officers recognized Clifton and knew that he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest out of the Department of Corrections.

Justin was contacted and immediately fled from officers though several yards.  Officers reported that Justin was possibly reaching for something in the waistband of his shorts.  Officers chased Justin, issuing him verbal commands to stop and that he was under arrest.

Justin failed to obey commands and continued to evade officers by scaling a fence.

A perimeter was set up by additional officers.  A short time later a neighboring resident called dispatch and advised a male ran into his backyard.  He further advised dispatch the male was now hiding in a shed located in his back yard.  Officers arrived in the area and located Justin in a shed at the location.  He was taken into custody.

After Justin was taken into custody, officers retraced the path in which he ran.  A .45 caliber hand gun was located on the ground at the foot of the fence that Justin initially scaled.

The homeowner where the hand gun was found was contacted and confirmed that hand gun did not belong to them.

Justin was booked on a 72-hour hold for Felon in Possession of Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass in the 2nd Degree.
