Goats to help manage vegetation along Mill Creek trail near Walla Walla

A herd of about 70 goats will be used to remove vegetation growing along a trail on the south side of the Mill Creek channel near Walla Walla.

As a result Mill Creek's south-shore trail will be temporarily closed to all visitors Saturday, July 20 through Monday, July 29.

While electric fences, shepherds and professional working dogs will be used to keep the goats corralled while working in the vegetation-maintenance zone, all visitors' dogs must be leashed at times while working on the north (paved) side of Mill Creek and in Rooks Park.

Visitors are encouraged not to attempt to approach the goats or working dogs, as young goats will be present and the mommas are pretty protective.  So are the working dogs.
