A man who killed a Umatilla County corrections officer along Highway 11 more than a year ago is being sentenced this week in Hermiston.

Back in April, Joshua Weeks pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the November 2011 death of 42 year-old Buddy Herron.

The judge has two options for sentencing - he can either sentence Weeks to life in prison without the possibility of parole, or life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

The sentencing hearing started Monday - it is scheduled to last all week.
