The Sunnyside City Council announced today that it has selected four finalists and one alternate for the office of City Manager.

Council started the selection process in March of this year.

A total of forty-two applicants applied for the job.

The top four finalist have been selected after the executive session yesterday.

The public will get to meet the finalists on June 21, 2013 at 5:30 pm at Bon Vino’s Bistro & Bakery.

The finalists will then undergo interviews with a Review Committee made up of community leaders selected by the Council, an Employee Panel as well as be interviewed by the City Council on June 22, 2013.

Finalists:

Donald Day: Mr. Day has approximately 33 years of local government experience. He has served the County of Colfax, New Mexico, as County Manager since 2007. Prior to that he was Chief of Emergency Services for Castle Pines Village, Colorado, for seven months; worked for the New Mexico State Police, for twenty years; and worked for two other law enforcement agencies, for seven years. Mr. Day is a graduate of Northwestern University Traffic Institute of Staff and Command, has a Bachelor of Science degree in security management from DeVry University and has a Master of Business Administration from DeVry University, Keller School of Management.

Steven Golnar: Mr. Golnar was most recently City Manager for the City of Rawlins, Wyoming, serving four and a half years. Mr. Golnar has also served as City Administrator for the City of Salida, Colorado, City Manager for the City of Livingston, Montana , City Administrator for the City of Kemmerer, Wyoming, Administrative Assistant to the Town Manager for the City of Rangely, Colorado and Town Planner/Acting Administrator for the City of Dinosaur, Colorado. Mr. Golnar has a bacherlor’s degree in economics and management from Western State College and a Masters of Government Administration from Fels Government Center – University of Pennsylvania.

Ashton Harrison: Mr. Harrison most recently served as County Administrator and Budget Officer for the County of Montezuma in Cortez, Colorado, serving eight years. Mr. Harrison has also served at Town Manager for the Town of Kremmling, Colorado and Town Manager for the Town of Rico, Colorado. Prior to serving in municipal government, Mr. Harrison was a Graduate Intern for Dolores County, Colorado. Mr. Harrison also served in the United States Army, Airborne Infantry. Mr. Harrison has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Fort Lewis College, a Master of Arts in Political Science (Public Policy Emphasis) from University of Colorado – Denver and completed the Certified Public Manager Program from the University of Colorado – Denver.

Arthur Sciorra: Mr. Sciorra is currently serving as an Executive Director for Clements Agriculture Research Institute in Lisbon, New York. Prior to that, Mr. Sciorra served as City Manager for the City of Ogdensburg, New York for seven years. Mr. Sciorra has also served as Village Manager for the Village of Cassopolis, Michigan, Village Manager for the Village of Horseheads, New York, Economic Development and Tourism Sector Advisor for the Metis Nation of Alberta, Town Administrator for the Town of Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, Canada and Unit Supervisor, HR, for the City of Albany, New York. Mr. Sciorra also served the United States
Army as a Senior Combat Medical Corpsman. Mr. Sciorra has a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from State University New York (SUNY) in Albany, New York as well as a Masters of Public Administration from the Nelson Rockefeller School of Public Affairs, SUNY Albany with a concentration in Public Affairs and Development Administration.
