Expect Traffic Delays in Yakima
A water system project at Davis High School will impact traffic on West Walnut Avenue today.
Walnut between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue will be closed to all through traffic during daytime hours.
This will also occur from Monday to Thursday next week.
Flaggers will be on site to alert drivers and to help them navigate around the project area.
The project will involve city crews installing new water services for the Davis High School improvement project.
Meanwhile, a wastewater line project will close Tieton Drive at 40th Avenue 7:00 pm to 6:00 am next Monday and Tuesday.
City crews will be installing a new 8-inch sanitary sewer line to provide enhanced service to the area.
Also, Tieton Drive between 38th and 40th Avenue will continue to be closed Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am for most of the next two weeks.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes until both projects are completed.
Access to homes and businesses in the areas will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.
Officals say the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
