Mariachi and More Festival in Columbia Park Sunday
An estimated three to four thousand people attend the Mariachi and More Festival in Kennewick on Sunday.
This is the eighth year the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has hosted the festival in Columbia Park.
It is the biigest event the Chamber puts on throughout the year.
Eight bands performed between 11am and 7pm, including several from right here in the Tri-Cities.
But Chamber President Martin Valadez says it's about much more than Mariachi.
"Besides the music I think it's the camaraderie and getting to meet some new people. And also for those that are not Latino to learn not just about Mariachi, but also some of the other music from Latin America. That's why it's called Mariachi and More, not just Mariachi festival. It's a lot of work, but we feel it's important to make sure the Latino community connects with the rest of the Tri-Cities community."
Admission to the festival is free and families are welcome.
There are about 40 volunteers that make it happen.
