Hanford High School student earns gold medal at international competition
Hanford High School junior Shanta Katipamula earned a Gold Medal in the Science Category at the prestigious GENIUS Olympiad held last month in Oswego, New York. Her project is "Working Towards a Greener Future: Investigating the Most Efficient and Cost Effective Method to Obtain Hydrogen from Water".
Only 22 projects received a Gold Medal out of the 232 entered for judging.
Katipamula was nominated for the GENIUS competition by the Mid-Columbia Science Fair. GENIUS Olympiad is an international high school project competition about environmental issues, co-organized by the State University of New York at Oswego and the Terra Science and Education Foundation.
