Compact for Immigration Reform
A meeting is held this morning in Yakima for a new coalition formed in support of immigration reform.
Members announced the launching of the Washington Compact.
The group's intent is to urge Washington state's congressional delegation to address immigration issues and develop programs to solve them.
Former Congressman Sid Morrison says he hopes the coalition brings more attention to the issues that started back when he was in office over twenty years ago.
"There's such an opportunity for America to grow; to accept the fix that needs to be taken on immigration reform," said Morrison, "Do it now, get it behind us and let's get on with competing with the rest of the world."
The Washington Compact says it patterned itself on other existing coalitions located in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.
