Franklin Co. prosecutor charges man with unlawful practice of law

The Franklin County prosecutor has filed seven charges against a man accused of illegally practicing law.

Jose Antonio Martinez, also known as Tony Martinez, is being held in the Franklin County Jail on $500,000 bail.

Martinez is charged with four counts of unlawful practice of law, one count of first degree theft, one count of second degree extortion, and one count of criminal trespass.

The Franklin County prosecutor says Martinez got money from his victims by promising to perform immigration work on their behalf, but never did.

Investigators have discovered about 30 victims so far.
