Inslee Appoints New Head of Dept. of Agriculture
Washington State Governor Jay Inslee appoints a new director for the Department of Agriculture -- who will replace it's current director, Dan Newhouse.
Inslee appointed Okanogan rancher Bud Hover this morning -- Hover is a former Okanogan County Commissioner and the current chair of the State Salmon Recovery Board.
Newhouse, a Sunnyside native, says he isn't disappointed about the agency changes, but will continue to advocate for the Yakima Valley area even after he leaves office.
"I will continue to be a help to them or anybody else that would seek out any kind of assistance they may need," said Newhouse, "And I'm very willing to speak up for the people in our area, especially agriculturally."
Newhouse says he will leave office at the beginning of April, where he plans to return to his farm in Sunnyside.
