Carousel of Dreams project receives $500,000 donation
The Carousel of Dreams project is another step closer to reality thanks to a substantial donation.
Toyota of Tri-Cities donated $500,000 to the project.
The company will give out $10,000 each month, for the next 50 months.
Those in charge of putting the $1.85 million project together plan to use the money on the carousel's operational costs.
Volunteers are still fundraising for the project, but they say this donation will help ensure the carousel's long-term success.
"We're about two-thirds of the way there. This guarantees our success 4, 5 years down the road. The third left is we need to sell horses, tiles, things of that nature" said Eric Van Winkle, Carousel Foundation.
The carousel will be built at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex.
Volunteers hope to open the carousel this summer.
