Nearly one hundred people gather at Franklin Park in Yakima today to help raise money for a local high school marching band.

It's part of theSt. Paddy's Day Dash put on by the A.C. Davis High School marching band booster club.

The event featured several field activities like a 2 mile run to help raise money for the marching band.

Following the activities, people were invited to a potato feed inside Franklin Middle School.

The booster club says it's the first St. Patrick's day themed fundraiser it's put on, and it was a huge success.

"People understand that the arts need community support," said booster club president Joy Clark, "Funding is tough for everything these days and it's wonderful to see people come out and support the event."

"I know right now there's some funding shortfalls going on, so I wanted to do anything possible to support extracurricular activities and make sure that kids have the opportunity to pursue their dreams," said Davis Alumnus Peter Dufault.

The money raised from the event will go towards funding trips, competitions, and gear for the marching band.
