Kennewick City Council opposes background checks on all gun transfers
The Kennewick City Council will not support a state bill that would require universal background checks on all gun transfers.
Last night, council members unanimously voted to oppose the proposed legislation.
They say the bill, which would require checks on all transfers, even to a family member or a friend, would waste valuable police resources.
The city plans to send a letter to the National League of Cities formally opposing the proposal.
