Thousands of students from across the region gather at the Yakima Convention Center this week to learn about STEM subjects.

It's part of the Science and Engineering Festival put on by the University of Washington's "Gear Up" program.

The event features exhibits and attractions aimed at getting students interested in STEM subjects.

The university says 80 percent of sixth graders will likely work in jobs that haven't been invented yet.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
