Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office adds new K-9 deputies
The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office introduces two new additions – Deputy “Farel”, a Belgian Malinois and Deputy “Gudy”, a German Shepherd.
The Walla Walla Sheriff’s Foundation has been actively pursuing funding for K-9 deputies since the summer of 2011.
By December 2012, sufficient private donations allowed the foundation to purchase two male dogs from a Southern California company and immediately undergo the necessary training and state certification process.
Last month, both Sheriff K-9s passed their Criminal Justice Training Center certification in all phases of obedience, protection, apprehension, tracking and trailing and are now ready, willing, and more than able to serve the community. Both of these completed the grueling certification process in 1st and 2nd place.
The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Foundation says having a new K-9 unit would not have been possible without the generous support of the community.
