Irrigon Woman Charged with Killing Her Mother
An Irrigon woman, accused of recklessly killing her dependent mother, is being held on $50,000 bail.
Morrow County District attorney Justin Nelson has charged 64-year-old Ida Anna Powers with one county of first degree manslaughter.
Nelson says Powers was taking care of Anna Lyons, who developed a bed sore in the fall of 2012. Powers allegedly did nothing about the sore when other family members intervened when they learned of Lyons' condition.
Due the extreme case of her bed sore, Lyons was transported to a local hospital, then airlifted to a hospital in Portland. Lyons later died as a result of the bed sore.
