Students at Eisenhower High School are mourning the loss of a classmate, after he is killed while hunting over the weekend.

Sheriff's deputies say 16 year old Sergio Tinajero was found dead in the woods just after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, about an hour north of Spokane.

Deputies say Tinajero was hunting in the area with family members that day, and it appeared he had died from a single gunshot wound.

Investigators were not able to confirm if the incident was accidental or not.

One student at Eisenhower High School says he was close friends with Tinajero, and was distraught when he heard the news.

"I just talked to him on Friday, and now he's not even here," said Nathen Hill, "I had mixed emotions; I had a lot of sadness, a little bit of anger [at whoever] Did this. But you have got to move on, it's going to be tough."

The case is being handled by multiple agencies in Pend Oreille County -- deputies are asking anyone who was hunting in the area at the time of the incident to contact them.
