Yakima Valley Community College celebrates the completion of it's solar panel array.
The school recently completed construction on the project on Glenn Anthon Hall, which was made possible by Pacific Power's Blue Sky renewable energy program.
Administrators say the panels will greatly reduce energy costs, while allowing students to observe and incorporate real-world data into their curriculum.
YVCC is also the first school in Yakima County to install solar panels.
"We like to be on the cutting edge of everything we do, and anything we can do regarding sustainability; becoming greener, is an important part of what we do," said Facilities and Operations Director Jeff Wood.
Wood says the panels generate enough energy in one day to light the Eiffel Tower for one day.
