Giving Back to Those in Need
Hundreds of families in the Yakima area receive a generous dinner donation this morning.
The Intersection Church and members from the community put on the church's third annual turkey drive.
The church raised over $4,000 to purchase 200 complete turkey dinners for families in need.
A large portion of the donations were made by local grocery stores and personal donators.
"A lot of us have come from poverty, a lot of have known what it's like to be without and to go without," said Pastor Curtis Johnstone, "We as a church want to give back to the community and help others out there that are struggling this time of the year, and just make it a little bit easier for them to get through the holidays."
The church also donates 100 backpacks filled with supplies to Union Gap students at the beginning of every school year.
