Washington Elementary in Pendleton Went Into a Brief Lockdown This Morning

From the Pendleton School District-

Washington Elementary School went into brief lockdown at approximately 8:14AM today after police notified the school about a possible armed person in the vicinity of the school on Southeast Byers Avenue.  However, police quickly determined there was no viable threat and the lockdown was lifted at 8:19AM.

A community member saw an individual with what appeared to be a gun and reported the sighting to police.  Police immediately responded and made contact with the individual, who turned out to be a hunter using an airsoft gun to hunt rodents in the area.  After determining there was no threat to the community and the school, police contacted Principal Curt Thompson, who then ended the lockdown at Washington.
