PNNL may furlough up to 35 employees

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland may furlough up to 35 employees next week because of the government shutdown.

The laboratory has been operating on reserve funds since the government shutdown on October 1st.

But that limited amount of money is quickly going away as the shutdown continues.

As a result, lab leaders are looking to place some employees on unpaid leave to cut down on expenses until a permanent resolution is made.
