Port of Kennewick approves agreement to create wine village
The City of Kennewick is a big step closer to having a new, large wine village along the city's historic waterfront.
Today, Port of Kennewick commissioners approved an inter-local agreement with the City of Kennewick to create the wine village.
The Port and the City want to revitalize the waterfront area between the Cable Bridge and Clover Island Drive.
They want to create an area that includes tasting rooms, shopping areas, and room for entertainment.
Today, Port commissioners also discussed the possibility of adding an art studio and workspace to the area.
The Kennewick City Council was supposed to vote on the agreement tonight, but council members postponed the vote to November 5th, so they could gather more information first.
However, council members say they are all in favor of the project.
