Yakima Memorial Looking to Form New Alliances
Leaders from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital announce plans to form potential partnerships with one of four larger institutions in the Seattle area.
The hospital has been considering the partnership since 2012 -- administrators say it would provide more financial stability and give the hospital access to more advanced medical technology for patients, especially with the changing health landscape.
"One of the primary purposes of that is to enhance our ability as best we can to maintain a high quality, a broad base of health care in the community," said Board of Trustees member Jim Berg, "It's certainly not adverse to local healthcare needs at all; it enhances that."
The organizations being considered are Swedish Medical Services, Providence Health and Services, Virginia-Mason Hospital and Medical Center, and Peacehealth, in collaboration with University of Washington Medicine.
