Crews install large bronze bulldog at Kennison Field
Earlier this year, community members in Hermiston rallied together to raise more than $1 million for the brand new Kennison Field at Hermiston High School.
But soon after the facility opened, they noticed something was missing, and raised even more money to create what's being called the "crown jewel" of the project.
Crews recently installed a larger-than-life bronze bulldog in the plaza of the complex.
The statue is nearly six feet long, four feet tall, and weighs more than 400 pounds.
Educators say after the field opened in August, a few community members discussed the possibility of adding a monument like this, and within a few days, several anonymous donors and contractors stepped up to make it happen.
