Suspected burglar arrested in Hermiston
A 43-year-old Hermiston man suspected of burglarizing two homes is in custody.
Police say a burglary was believed to have taken place at a residence in the 600 block of Moore Avenue between the hours of 4PM and 7PM. Hermiston Police responded and took a report which included a significant amount of property (jewelry, electronics, etc) having been stolen.
Later in the evening around 9:45PM, HPD received a call the resident of the property was detaining a person who attempted to enter the residence unlawfully. Officers responded and immediately took 43-year-old Refugio H. Campos into custody.
Investigation revealed Campos was responsible for the earlier burglary, hid stolen property at the residence, and was attempting to return and retrieve that property when he was caught. Campos was arrested and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Attempted Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. Campos was also charged with (2) counts of Unlawful Entry to a Motor vehicle and (2) counts of Theft in the Second Degree for car prowls in/around Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church on October 26th, 2013.
