Mothers rally to raise awareness about child birthing options
More than a dozen mothers from the Tri-Cities rally in Richland today to try and improve child birthing practices for expecting families.
The group, ImprovingBirth.org held rallies across the world today to raise awareness about maternity issues.
Mothers in the Tri-Cities met at John Dam Plaza this morning - they want families to be informed about the different child birthing options available so they can make the right choice for themselves.
They say mothers should rely on evidence-based care, and doctors should respect what a mother wants to do.
"It's important to choose because the way we experience our births of our children influences us long, many, many years to come. That is one aspect of it, the emotional aspect of it. There's also the physical consequences, for instance having certain procedures done to your body and then trying to have consequent children and all of that eventually makes an impact on how you're able to have the children" said Kseniya Deryckx, mother and rally organizer.
About 12,000 people across the world participated in the rallies today.
