Pasco Green Lights Six Month Moratorium on Marijuana
Pasco City Council green lights the moratorium on producing, processing and selling recreational marijuana tonight.
City council has voted to place a six month moratorium on the rules regarding marijuana.
Last week the federal government said it would not block state laws legalizing marijuana in Washington and Colorado.
However, the City of Pasco still wants to move forward with the moratorium.
Mayor Matt Watkins says "we want to proceed cautiously and give the state a chance to set some regulations and guidelines in place."
A public hearing has also been scheduled for October 7 to get input on the matter from residents.
