The Tri-City Dog Parks Society, sponsored by the Richland Parks and Recreation Department, is hosting it's 5th Annual Pooch Plunge fundraiser this weekend.

Dog owners are invited to bring their pups to Howard Amon Park both Saturday and Sunday from 10a.m. to 4p.m. to swim in the wading pool, play fetch and run around with other dogs.

The cost to get in is $5 per dog and all proceeds go to expanding the dog park at Badger Mountain Park, which is the only one in the area, and toward building more dog parks in the area.

One dog owner stresses the importance of having more dog parks.

"A well exercised dog is a well behved dog and the better we get them out and socialize them, the easier they are to take care of at home, they're happier, they sleep better, they're more restful and their just a joy to be around when they've had that edge taken off of them," said dog owner Judy West.

In order to attend, dogs must be spayed or neutured and vaccinated.

Pups younger than 5 months are not allowed and children under the age of 10 years old are not allowed.
