Pair of OSP Shootings Ruled Justified
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- District attorneys in Deschutes and Sherman counties have announced that Oregon State Police troopers were justified in using deadly force during traffic stops last month.
The unrelated shootings occurred on back-to-back days. The first happened along Interstate 84 in Sherman County, where Trooper Matt Zistel fatally shot a motorist who had wounded him.
The following day, a man who pulled a gun after a traffic stop in central Oregon died after two troopers opened fire.
Both district attorneys said Tuesday that the troopers acted in self-defense.
