Future of the New Sacajawea Elementary

The Richland School Board approves the site plan for the new Sacajawea Elementary tentatively tonight, subject to zoning considerations and the City of Richland.

The school is being replaced thanks to a $98 million bond that voters approved back in February.

Board president Richard Jansons said, "We are also considering leaving the existing structure for the overflow of students at Marcus Whitman, but that is also subject to discussion at the next meeting on October 8."

Members also discussed two different building footprints for a new elementary school being built.

They will not make a final decision on the building schematics until next month.
