11th Annual Smartmap Expo
The 11th annual Smartmap Expo, one of the best known trade shows in the area, kicks off in the Tri-Cities at the TRAC in Pasco tomorrow.
The theme this year is the magic of manufacturing. Organizers say it's all about innovation and inspiration as they set up the TRAC Center today.
145 local, national and international companies will be displaying their gadgets and latest technology at the TRAC and there will be several interactive displays as well.
This year Smartmap Expo is offering something called the Snake Works Tour. They'll be running a shuttle from the TRAC to the Lockheed Martin owned building in Richland where organizers say conceptual ideas are turned into reality.
Tri-City Development Council Director Gary White said aside from the usual trade show, they've also got some new attractions this year for the entire family
"For the first time ever we're including the wine industry. We've got a number of wineries that'll be exhibiting and giving free tastings here. We've got a number of specialty food companies as part of the Lamb weston Specialty Food Tasting Pavilion, that's 13 companies providing free tastings. And we've got live musisc all day," said White.
Other showcases include the STEM Electric Guitar, the Tri-Tech Skills Center and the PNNL Inventor's Pavilion.
Tonight the event will kick off with a sit-down dinner and a short feature by production house Edge Factor, highlighting the magic of manufacturing theme.
Doors open at the TRAC tomorrow at 9am.
