A local photographer brings home multiple awards for his work from an international competition in Las Vegas.

David Wyatt's award winners were of several locations throughout the Mid-Columbia and what makes it interesting is they are taken from more than 1,000 ft. above ground.

His three award winning photos in this years professional Aerial Photographers Association International Competition include best scenic aerial photograph, "Canyon Gold," a shot of the Palouse River canyon downstream of Palouse Falls.

"Fingers of the Jolly Green Giant" depicts dramatic contours blanketed in the rich of spring wheat near Walla Walla winning Wyatt best artistic aerial photograph.

"Wallula Gap," shot last spring looking out over the Two Sisters and Port Kelley with the canyon, won Individual Judge's Choice Award.

Wyatt says he's proud to show off the beauty of the Mid-Columbia to the rest of the world.

"We don't really think of our area so much as being photogenic but really it is," said Wyatt.

Wyatt is a Tri-Cities aerial photographer with more than two decades of experience both in aviation as well as photography.
