Livestock Auctions at the Fair
For most of the week, the focus has been on the fun at the Benton-Franklin Fair. There was still plenty of that today but there was also some big business.
Farmers and residents from all over our region came by to purchase livestock.
There were hundreds of sheep, lamb and swine available and the kids that raised the animals got to show them themselves.
Bailie Banger said she sold "Buddy" here for almost $1,400.
She raised him a baby and she's sad to see him go.
"I get pretty upset when they have to take them away because you get close to them over the summer," said Banger.
Most of the kids said they will put this money towards college and their first cars.
Last year, livestock auctions brought in more than $700,000 for the kids who came to show their animals.
