The Walla Walla School District is mourning the loss of one of it's former students whose body was found Friday morning.

Olivos' body was discovered near the intersection of Mojonnier & Beet Roads by a pedestrian who reported it to to the Walla Walla Police Department.

An autopsy classified the death as a homicide by gunshot wound.

Olivos attended schools in the Walla Walla School District her entire life, graduating from Walla Walla High School in 2011 and the district says it's saddened by her death.

"Walla Walla is a small town so the death of any young person really impacts a number of people especially when it's a homicide," said Mick Miller, Superintendent of Walla Walla Public Schools. "Your heart just goes out for family and friends that knew Yesica. It's just devastating."

Specific manner and details of the death are being withheld due to the ongoing homicide investigation.
